Dr. Susan B. Cain, Ed.D., is Co-founder and Partner of The Corporate Learning Institute and a founding partner of the Black River Center for Management Enhancement.
Susan is an expert in the field of corporate training and development. She is a valued consultant and coach to numerous Fortune 500 companies crossing all industry sectors worldwide. She has a proven track record of partnering with teams from top-tier companies to maximize their return on strategic and human capital investment.
Under her direction in her previous position as CEO, The Black River Center for Management Enhancement developed a blueprint program for training high performance teams. Her training programs have been delivered all over the world and in concert with The Center for Creative Leadership in Whirlpool Corporation’s World Wide Leadership Academy, and Tellab’s International Leadership Institute.
Susan is a qualified corporate coach and is certified in the use of the Denison Culture Survey, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Disc Personal Profile Assessment, Situational Leadership Inventory, Firo B, Profiler, Skillscope and the 16PF. She has extensive experience designing and administering corporate training and development programs utilizing experiential learning techniques. She has developed and led programs in the area of team building, leadership development, accelerated learning, communication, change management and corporate strategic planning. Susan is also a skilled team challenge facilitator, instructor and advocate.
Susan works nationally and internationally. Some of her clients include Tellabs, Whirlpool Corporation, The Kellogg Company, C/D/H, Amway, OWP&P, Herman Miller, Meijer, Sear’s and Allstate Insurance.
Susan completed her Doctoral degree in Organizational Leadership in 2009.
Susan received her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work & Administrative Management from the University of Chicago. Her Bachelor of Arts in Clinical Psychology was awarded to her in 1981 from Elmhurst College.
Susan is past Board of Director member for the Association of Experiential Education and past President of the South Haven United Way. She is a founding member of the Trainer’s Alliance. Susan has presented numerous white papers on training topics throughout her career. She is also a current board member of CODIC (Chicago Organization Institute Chapter) and a field instructor for the University of Chicago and Penn State University.
In her spare time Susan founded Adoption Services Group, a not for profit organization which helps individuals adopt children affordably. Susan lives in the western suburbs with her husband and four children.
