Goodbye 2020 – Hello 2021!

By Linda Whitlock

Hello Everyone,   It has undoubtedly been a devastating year. As we reflect on the challenges we’ve witnessed within our industry, our community and our personal lives, we all feel the pain – and, at the same time, we (must) embrace the change. 2021 is within reach and already filled with hope and optimism. If we can hold on just a little longer… we will turn the page to a better time.

And, we can’t wait to celebrate with you! Ring in the new year with an uplifting team experience. Help your team start the new year focused, energized and inspired with a daily quote and challenge, thought-provoking escape room or a virtual trip around the world. 2020: A Year Like No Other in the Events IndustryA Short Q&A with our Event Manager — Trent Snyder

Trent Snyder

Q: How have virtual programs changed since the beginning of the year?
A: As an event manager, the events themselves have conceptually changed from the very beginning stages all the way to the end. When clients ask for an event now, we no longer ask about location details, but rather when can we make it happen and what they want their attendees to gain, being a virtual audience instead of an in-person audience. We now focus on providing fun and viable content for virtual programs, rather than getting bogged down by the setup and in-person details.

Q: What has been the biggest challenge in switching from in-person to virtual?
A: The biggest challenge is the gap of knowledge between running in-person events and virtual events. There has been a learning curve on how to run events on various platforms because each one is different and you must dive deep into each in order to generate the highest quality product for your client. Specifically, it has been most challenging to convey a concept to either a colleague/client/partner that has little to no knowledge of the virtual world. On our end, there has also been a learning curve on how to bring people along with our vision and then developing that vision into a fully virtual program.

Q: How have your relationships and communication methods changed with clients?
A: The majority of our communications with clients is now over video chat and email, while before we rarely even explored this option. Before I typically met our clients at the event, so we did not need to meet in person until we were on site. Now, we have the opportunity to meet with our clients before their virtual program, set expectations, and even make a human connection despite being separated by a screen. This face-to-face meeting has been beneficial because one wrong button pressed can compromise the entire virtual program, so this pre-meeting allows us to run through any potential errors with the client.

Q: What new skills have you developed this year that will be essential in 2021?
A: In 2021, we will continue to strive for a lean business model. We will continue to create programs, outlines, templates that we can easily adapt to different programs so we do not have to keep reinventing the wheel every time we get a new client. Our goal is to make sure these outlines apply to all of our client’s virtual programs, but still, fulfill the needs and unique details of each individual client.

Thank You to Our Clients!
